Rapid React 2022
In the RAPID REACT challenge, presented by The Boeing Company, two competing alliances are invited to process cargo for transportation. Each alliance is assigned a cargo color (red or blue, based on alliance affiliation) to process by retrieving their assigned cargo and scoring it into the hub. Human players assist the cargo retrieval and scoring efforts from within their terminals. In the final moments of each match, alliance robots race to engage with their hangar to prepare for transport.
Each match begins with a 15-second autonomous period, during which time alliance robots operate only on pre-programmed instructions to score points by:
taxiing from their tarmac
retrieving and scoring their assigned cargo into the hub.
In the final 2 minutes and 15 seconds of the match, drivers take control of the robots and score points by:
continuing to retrieve and score their assigned cargo into the hub
engaging with their hangar.
The alliance with the highest score at the end of the match wins!
Drivetrain: 6x6 west coast tank drive with 4 6in’ pneumatic wheels & 2 Omni wheels . 2 self manufactured gearboxes powered by 2 Falcon motors on each side, 1:7 gear ratio.
Intake: Four bar intake with 2 lines of 3in’ Flex wheels and 1 versa roll. Powered by 2 Falcon motors.
Ball transportation: 2 vertical lines of 2 2in’ Flex wheels powered by a 775 PRO motor in 1:10 ratio. 4 Complimant wheels with a friction strip powered by a 775 PRO motor in 1:30 ratio and a color sensor to recognize the color of the ball.
Shooter: A turret that can turn 400 degrees, powered by a Falcon motor. 2 Falcon motors to rotate 3 4in’ compliment wheels with a friction strip & 2 2.5in’ Colson wheels. A Bag motor with 1:100 ratio to adjust the shooting angle.
Climbing: 2 linear elevators with a hook that climb to the low level, powered by 2 Falcons and constant force springs and two-joint arm that climbs to the mid level, powered by 775 PRO motor with 1:100 ratio.
